Your website homepage is your ultimate lead magnet, whether you have a Shopify, Etsy Shop or customised website, it has influence.
Your homepage has the power to convert your audience into buying customers or has the potential to divert away customers.
Do you know if your homepage is strong enough to convert customers?
In this article, Makaela the founder of Nurture Digital Marketing will share some quick tips to ensure your website homepage converts your audience, rather than convince them to do a U-turn out of your website. If you are new to business or not confident about your website, this article is perfect for you.
Let us begin by understanding why your website homepage is so important. Online marketers use an analysis metric known as a 'BOUNCE RATE'. It is the percentage of website visitors who exit a webpage without taking an action, such as visiting another webpage on the site, making a purchase or fill out a form.
Maintaining a low monthly bounce rate is important to be able to increase your Google ranking and search engine ranking. For more on this topic please refer to my blog Three digital marketing tips to grow your business.
Tip number 1: A clear call to action (CTA)
A call to action means the action you are calling your audience to make once they have seen your information. For example, once your potential customer visits your website, would you like them to download an e-book, view your services, buy, call or email you.
A call to action directs your audience to understand what to do next.
Before I construct and build a website, a blog, a marketing email or a social media post, I always consider the journey the customer has been on to get to the point of my information, this is called a customer journey. Therefore, take your customer on a journey and give them a direction on what to do next with your information.
Tip number 2: Create a list of Keywords
A keyword can be defined as a set of focus words or topic based words. It is a focus word that clearly explains the context of your website or Social Media Post.
A keyword is a searchable word, which when searched digitally on a Search Engine or Social Media Platform brings up information that you have shared relating to that word. For example, search Marketing Consultant in Croydon and Nurture Digital Marketing appears in Google, Facebook or Instagram.
For example, imagine that you had a website for your Removal Company, you have a variety of removal services and additional services such as Locksmith. If you also have a blog which features moving tips or share reviews from customers, then I would suggest including those relevant key words.
Here some keyword tips to include:
· Consider the words your ideal customer will use on search engines and social media to find services like yours
· Which focus words are relevant to your business that you need to include on your website?
· What are your collection of key words?
Tip number 3: Share User Generated Content (UGC)
In Marketing User Generated Content is created by customers, these can include testimonials, texts, videos or images.
My favourite type of UGC are reviews. I encourage the brands and clients I work with to share this powerful social proof, because it speaks volumes about your business. Your potential customers love to see experiences that previous customers have had.
Tip number 4: Language and a clear navigation flow
Use clear, concise and easy to follow language on your website. Websites are created with the main purpose of being an online 'store' for your products or services.
It is crucial that the text on your website flows and reads well in order for your amazing information such as your call to actions and user generated content to flow well.
Tip number 5: Use good sized images and videos
Your website landing page is often the first page that your views will see, therefore it is important to have sizable videos and images that will not take over a minute to load.
The internet is packed with millions of websites, it is key that yours stands out without lengthy loading times for your customers.
Thank you for reading this Marketing blog on how to optimise your website and particularly your home page. In summary prepare clear call to actions, create a list of keywords relevant to your business, collect and share user generated content, use clear language on your website.
